Information
Cert IV
The AIOT established links with an RTO called ICM. ICM have since deleted the certificate from their curriculum and may not relist the certificate. At this point there are limited options for enrolment in the certificate, which mostly was for interested people taking the RPL pathway except for Celtic training in Adelaide. Celtic Training was running a 12 month course, not too sure if it is running this year (2013). The AIOT is endeavouring to establish links with a current training provider and hopefully link it with our own training.
AIOT Training
The AIOT is currently in the process of writing its own training manual. This manual will be aimed at all personnel required to apply, modify or a remove a cast or splint within their duties. Once the relevant level is determined a Learning package will supplement the manual. There will be three levels OTC1- basic, OTC2- Intermediate, OTC3 – Advanced. The learning package will target the relevant information and requirements of each level. This package will bridge the gaps and provide information on both the science and art of casting.
AIOT casting workshops
The AIOT from time to time will offer hands–on casting workshops ranging from the basic to advanced casting. They are advertised in our newsletter and on our website. By becoming an AIOT member you are eligible for reduced rates for our workshops and seminars and receive up to date information from our newsletter.
Fellowships
AIOT fellowships will not be renewed in the short term. A review of the Fellowship credentials and criteria is taking place and will be co-aligned with the levels of the training package. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however we believe this will enhance our standing in the general orthopaedic community once our training pathways are established. Only when the training package is released will Fellowships recommence.
PEP Program
The PEP program is linked directly to the Fellowship certificate and is also in hiatus. The criteria needs to be assessed and will recommence once the training package is released as all three components are directly linked.
